(...) In 1971, Vevey hosts a retrospective on the history of photography based on Michel Auer's famous collection. The event's success naturally leads to the idea of creating a Swiss museum on photography. Founded by Claude-Henry Forney, the Swiss Camera Museum opens in 1979 in an apartment located at Vevey's Grande Place.

In addition to the permanent and temporary exhibit, the Camera Museum organizes photography workshops for children, from age 6, and for older tweens and teens, ages 9 to 15 (see HappyActivities - rounds of workshops).
